Blue Flamingo

By Jana Nowailaty

Hey, I’m Jana Nowailaty. I’m a senior studying at DJIS, Jeddah. I’ve always felt drawn to how abnormal natural things can be and that’s what I implement in my art. Unusual twists to natural things. Blue Flamingo is an art piece I created using oil paints. It was really fun to make and it took around 4 weeks. What inspired me to make it was because when I had the idea most people thought it was weird, and that’s the reaction I want my art to provoke. Real art isn’t supposed to be pretty... it’s supposed to make you feel something!

Fantasy Land

By Halla Angawi

Artist: Halla Angawi

Year: 1999

This is a silk painting approximately 24x36 inches. The original artwork is by a Danish artist. I loved the colors and the details. I painted this painting when I was in Art Club at King Abdulaziz University and it won a prize in a competition. I always knew that I would give it to my daughter if I had a daughter. Now it is hanging in her room.

Zendaya Coleman

Age: 15

In this piece, I was really drawn to the curl of the hair and wanted to practice hair texture. I used new techniques that I ended up really liking. Though it was a bit challenging, this piece made me really like experimenting with hair textures.

Though this looks simple, it had a lot of detail work. I enjoyed drawing this piece, especially the freckles on the face, and the small details with the hair. I also had to make up a coat design since I didn’t like the original. Overall, it’s a favorite of mine for sure.

"When the Party is Over" Cover

By Reema AlMulla

Hi I am  Reema AL-Mulla. What attracted me to be a pianist is the history and the beauty of piano it self .... I started to the piano in quarantine I took the chance because I had so much free time and I was self taught I subscribed to apps and YouTube channels to guide me through this journey and I took the piano to a way to express myself when sometimes words can’t , that’s why I choose this song “ when the party is over ~ Billie “ I really like playing this song it speaks for me and it’s relaxing and has a really meaningful message .

"Rivers Flow In You" Cover

By Tala Ashour

The song I chose was “River Flows In You” by Yiruma. I chose this song as i grew up listening to it quite a lot, because my sister used to play the piano and I would always get jealous of her because I wanted to learn too. I would always hear her play this song specifically and it was the song that really got me into wanting to play the piano. I just loved how it sounded and how it felt when I played this song. I never actually learned this song until this past year in my personal project, and I felt so happy that I finally got to learn after listening to it all my life, I truly felt proud as the piano is something I enjoy doing, I have so much fun learning it and playing it, it bring me a lot of happiness. And i wish to learn more songs and develop my pianist skills even more.

Laila's Piece.jpeg

Acrylic paint - dimensions 22x24 inches
This was my second ever serious painting. I was very attracted to it because of the vibrant colors of the turban. I personally like paintings with darker backgrounds; therefore, I reversed the colors of the background and turban from the original painting.

Perfect

By Reema AlHeraiqi

Hi my name is Reema Alheraiqi, and I am a sophomore in DAS, I use art as a creative outlet to present how I feel towards certain issues or express my emotions, so I made this piece to present societies beauty expectations for teenagers, from the point of view of a teenager in this society. I made this collage by gathering “perfect” features of models and celebrities which teenagers compare themselves to, I also used magazines as a background to showcase media and how it affects our idea of beauty standards.

Frank Sinatra:  an Album Exposè

By Leen Alshurafa

I’m Leen Alshurafa a DAS tenth Grader and Arts enthusiast. The Arts in general have taken over a lot of my time and interest as also produce Music and am a multi-instrumentalist. This piece labeled “Frank Sinatra: an Album exposè,” was rather one of the pieces that I’ve created and was inspired by my longing towards Music and the serenity it offers to the listener. Colors were matched to my mom’s liking as she also, is a Frank Sinatra Fan... After the work of 6 months, I gifted her this painting in hopes of bequeathing it as a family heirloom to the next generations...

Grey

By Seba Abduljabbar

My name is Seba. I am 15 years old. I have several hobbies including writing poetry, playing the piano, and sketching. Sketching was and still is my way to express how I feel and how I view the world . Not everything in this world is black and white. Some things are grey. And this idea had inspired me to sketch since KG. When we face obstacles, for instance, the solutions to those obstacles may be clear as in black and white. But sometimes, you may need to think about a decision or a solution to that obstacle, which may hesitate you to move further. In my opinion, in sketch language, this stage of our lives is referred to as the color “grey”. In this sketching, I drew a very simple drawing of legs. I just had the urge to draw something, and this is what I drew. Basically, it has no meaning.
